Company Presentation

Matricel GmbH (Matricel) is a life sciences company that develops and produces innovative medical class III implants and biomatrices for applications in regenerative medicine and biotechnology. Matricel serves as a collagen supplying partner and cooperates in the development of collagen containing medical products with its development, manufacturing and regulatory expertise.

Matricel´s proprietary technologies are essential to produce collagen-based, biocompatible and biodegradable matrices in a wide range of modifications suitable for cultivation with human cells in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Matricel’s products serve different medical fields like ACI-Maix for tissue engineering of articular cartilage and Remaix as a dental membrane for guided bone regeneration.

Matricel´s product Optimaix is dedicated for stem cell research in 3D cell culture. Matricel has a product pipeline in further medical fields (e.g. peripheral nerve regeneration). Matricel´s quality assurance system is DIN EN ISO 13485 certified for development, production, and distribution of biomaterials for applications in medicine, pharmaceutics and biotechnology.

Matricel has coordinated various national and international joint research projects (funded by BMBF, AiF, Dutch Burn Foundation) and actively participated in the European project EuroSTEC. Matricel´s NovoMaix product for dermal regeneration was developed in close collaboration with Partner 02 (Dutch Burn Center) of this consortium. Besides the use of NovoMaix as a cell-free dermal substitute it also offers the potential to be seeded with cells as an alternative to cell-seeded hydrogels.
